The artist is sure that the cultural front is important in the struggle of Ukraine, because the world must be reminded of the war until our country wins.
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with singer Jamala on the eve of her trip to the United States, where she will take part in cultural events and meet with dignitaries. This is stated on the website of the head of state.
So in the meeting, the presenter emphasized that the cultural field is very important in the current situation, because everyone should know the truth. He is supported by the President.
“Your voice is heard everywhere. And this is a good opportunity to remind everyone again that there is a war going on in Ukraine,” he said, referring to Jamala, who will receive the 2022 Award for Outstanding Artist Leadership from US Atlantic Council.
At the same time, Zelensky noted that now the most urgent problem is Russia’s strikes on energy infrastructure facilities and the threat of a blackout, so the whole world should know about it. The President also emphasized the importance of the issue of political prisoners, of which there are many residents of Crimea.
The winner of Eurovision-2016 said that every artist has his own story, and it starts with the Ukrainian Crimea.
“And so, wherever I am, the first priority for me is to remind that strangers have come to my house to kill and destroy life, destroy and rewrite my culture. This was the case in 1944, and then in 2014, and here it is again. Now everyone in Ukraine understands that it can happen to anyone if evil is not stopped and not held accountable for crimes,” he said.
Jamala was previously reported to have shown wheat fields on fire.
