Recently, Repetto’s Parisian boutique has become the scene of a strange ballet. “Over the past year, more and more young women have been knocking on the door of our historic address at 22 rue de la Paix, looking for a pair of semi-points to wear around town.”, says Charlotte Gaucher, deputy general manager of the French brand. Originally designed for beginner dancers, these slippers, adorned with an elastic strap at the bottom, are not sturdy enough for walking.
So Repetto launched the Sofia this fall, a kind of ballet slipper, meaning no right foot or left foot, reinforced with a thin leather sole. “Thanks to this new enthusiasm among young people for ballerinas and dance in general, we are now experiencing double-digit growth.”, adds the leader. Thus, since the beginning of the year, the brand has increased sales volumes in stores by about 50%, and turnover by 15%, thanks to purchases…
