Honda Racing has officially presented a prototype PRELUDE GT500, created to participate in the 2026 period of the prestigious Japanese Super GT series, Carscoops reports. The freshness will be replaced by the Civic Type R GT500, which has been performing since 2024 and competing with the Toyota Gr Supra GT500 and Nissan Z Nismo GT500.
The first car tests were already planned in this environment. The average Prelude 2026 will receive a hybrid power unit with a 2.0-liter gasoline engine, two electric motor and CVT, which issues 200 HP, however, racing change is designed without compromise in favor of productivity.
The appearance of the prelude GT500 is radically different in the civilian compartment: bare carbon panels, massively expanded wings, aggressive aerodynamic elements – splitter, side skirts, large anti -winging in winch racks. The car received the beam tires with bridgestone slicks and AP brake systems.
This year the Civic Type R GT500 could not impose the Toyota Gr Supra struggle, so Honda relies on a completely new prelude to return competitiveness. In addition, from 2026, Super GT will enter the strength of new policies that will give teams more freedom of using aerodynamic solutions under the body.
