Duolingo’s popular application is in the midst of the German lesson scandal, in which writer Joan Rowling, has set a series about Harry Potter, is characterized as “evil”.
The incident was reported by television manufacturer Gubi Koppel, who shared a screenshot of the work. In exercise, users are invited to choose one of the answers to the question about books with Harry Potter. Among the options are the phrase: “Yes, but, in my opinion, anger is set.”
Koppel noted that over the years of studying the appendix he only once recognized criticizing a real person – and this concerned rowling.
After the public, the Duolingo representative apologized, saying that the company regrets “any insults caused”, and has promised to remove this content from educational materials.
