The company considers the biofuel a practical tool for a rapid reduction in the harmful releases of CO2 to countries where it can easily be used.

In Brazil, Toyota shows the Prius Prototype, where an engine operating both on gasoline and ethanol is now installed with plug-in-hybrid installation, Carscoops reports. According to the manufacturer, with a fully charged battery and the use of ethanol, the level of CO2 leaks decreases by 90%.

For the Brazil market, this is not the first Toyota experience with ethanol hybrids – the hybrid versions are already offered for locally collected corolla and corolla cross. However, for the first time this procedure was applied to the delivery of the plug-in hybrid.

Externally, the prototype is hardly different from the standard plug-in hybrid Prius, except for many special stickers, which are probably installed only as part of the presentation.

Toyota has not been published by specific technical details, although the changes required for ethanol use are probably insignificant. The standard power plant combines a 2.0-liter gasoline engine, an electrical motor and a lithium-ion battery and provides 220 hp. In fuel mode.

The freshness was presented at the exhibition of Fenasucro & Agrocana in the city of Seronzin, along with similar versions of Hilux, Fortuner and Corolla Cross. The event took place against the Toyota backdrop that plans to invest 11.5 billion reactions (about $ 2.1 billion) in production and new solutions for mobility in Brazil until 2030. As part of this program, two new Hybrids in Ethanol will be released in the country, one of which will be the Yaris Cross, whose debut is set for October 2025.

If such a hybrid Prius reaches serial production is still unknown.

We will remind you, earlier it was reported that Japanese automakers started making bioethanol fuel.
