The famous Ukrainian actor and veteran Gennady Popenko became the new representative of the Ministry of Veterans.
The actor, presenting TV and veteran Gennady Popenko took a speaker’s position for the Ministry of Veterans of Ukraine. It is officially reported on the ministry website.
Popenko is responsible for communication between the state, veterans and society: from the explanation of services to participation in public events and the development of bright messages.
“This is not a hero task. But it is necessary,” Popenko himself commented on the appointment.
The department explains: The role of a speaker provides a lot of activities – from a reaction to the participation information requests in the organization of events and creating a bright, human communication without the necessary complexity.
Popenko has a battle experience. In 2022, after the discourse of the Kiev region, he voluntarily joined the rows of the armed forces of Ukraine. He served in many divisions, participated in clearance, guarding the attacks of drones, as well as the defense of strategic objects. He later led the mobile group of “Cultural Landing” – the initiative united by the creative military for SCUM’s moral support.
In 2024, during the training, he received a serious injury to his knee, undergo surgery, and in May 2025 he was officially demobbed.
