Showman Andrei Danilko explained why he didn’t translate Russian -Speaking hits by Verki Serdyuchka to Ukrainian and what prevents him from bringing out new songs.
Andrei Danilko, in a certain way of Verka Serduchka, shared a new interview with BBC News Ukraine’s thoughts on the language issue in her work.
He admitted that he had tried to translate his Russian -language songs into Ukrainian, but the result did not fit him.
“I’m not going to translate anything. I tried to translate it – turns KVN, and it is – oh you can translate everything like that. Please translate me the red root into Russian. Because it’s written. Ivasyuk for me an example of how talented. I found some such formulations, of course, from serdyuchka, which can easily sing and memorize, and a few stories are drawn here,” artist.
According to Danilko, every Verka Serduchka song is a mini-story with a little melody and an accurate formulation.
At the same time, Showman has confirmed that he has been writing new songs in Ukrainian for a long time – and they are considered successful. But while he was not in a hurry to release.
“I apologize that I can’t show them. To show, it takes time and people, specialists – the people I work with, or they don’t – they have died or left. It’s hard for me to do it, I need to pause to sit down and make a new repertoire,” Danilko admitted.
He also commented on the criticism of the performance of the old hits: these songs are part of a certain time, and this is their definitive value. However, the future repertoire will be Ukrainian -language language.
