The carioca association was crowned as champion of the year by bringing to Sapucaí a parade honoring “Laíla de Todos os Santos”
Nilópolis Hummingbird was crowned Carnival Champion 2025, marking the achievement of its 15th title in the history of the carioca revelry. The parade held at dawn on Tuesday, the 4th, thrilled those present in Sapucaí with honors to renowned Laíla and a farewell to the iconic Neguinho da Beija-Flor, which has acted as the school’s official voice since 1976.
The association stood out by obtaining maximum notes in all evaluated categories. With this victory, Beija-Flor reaffirms its position as the third largest winner of Rio Carnival, now accumulating 15 titles, behind only the traditional Portela and Mangueira.
The plot “Laíla de Todos os santos, Laíla de all sambas”, created by the carnival João Vítor Araújomade history in the parade of the Baixada Fluminense group. This show not only enchanted by its stunning aesthetics, especially the wing that honored the orisha Shango, patron of Laílabut also for the strong emotional connection with the community. The presentation was described as luxurious and imposing when passing through the catwalk.
New parade
Hummingbird ended her parade with style. The float that represented Laíla He symbolized the grandeur of Carnival 2025, followed by an allegory that referred to the famous “Rats and Vulture” parade of 1989, considered one of the most emblematic of the school’s trajectory.
The association has a new commitment scheduled for next weekend, when it will perform again at the champions’ parade, allowing the public to have the opportunity to admire the Majesty of Beija-Flor in action once again.
