The 847-square-meter mansion with five bedrooms is located in a suburb of Chicago, Illinois, Bloomberg reports.
The previous owners, Tricia and Tim Johnson, bought the “star” property in 2016. Two years later, they did extensive renovations, and in May 2024 they put the house on the market for $5.25 million . Bids exceeded expectations, raising the price to $5.5 million.
“While this is the end of an era for the sellers, we know the new owners will create many great memories here,” said real estate agent Dawn McKenna.
The names of the new owners have not yet been disclosed. Buyers recognize the home’s popularity and are excited to preserve its cultural heritage, spokeswoman Laurie Neeleman said.
“My clients fully understand the iconic status of the home and the joy it brings to so many people, especially during the holidays. They understand its importance to fans around the world and are eager to celebrate that legacy ,” Neeleman added.
