The spectacle “Gongada Drag”designed and presented by Bruno Mottais winning over audiences all over Brazil with its unique mix of stand-up comedy, improvisation, auditorium, reality show and the vibrant talent of Brazilian drag queens.
The innovative proposal combines humor and representation in a format that has already filled large theaters such as Teatro Bradesco (SP), Teatro Riachuelo (RJ) and Cine Theatro Brasil Vallourec (BH), in addition to regular editions in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
Bruno Mottaa pioneer of stand-up comedy in Brazil and known for Furo MTV and Improbável, highlights the innovative nature of the project:
We managed to create something that didn’t exist before: a fixed show that mixes comedy, drag and the concept of ‘gongação’, with two and a half hours of laughter outside the traditional nightclub environment. It’s a great moment for LGBT+ art in Brazil.”
What is “gongar”?
In LGBT+ culture, “gongar” means making fun of someone in public, ensuring that the target and the audience join in the joke. This tradition was adapted to the stage in a comedy format, bringing the “roast” style and creativity of drag queens.
Each edition of the show celebrates the legendary drag queens of the nightlife scene and LGBT+ personalities, with an always renewed cast and a special honoree.

On December 9th, the stage of Teatro das Artes, in São Paulo, will host a special edition of “Gongada Drag” with the presence of Miranda Lebrãostar of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race Brasil’. Next to her, there will be the drag queens Dakota Monteiro of the ‘Blogger Race’, Lua Drag, Valentini and the champion of the first season of ‘Drag Race Brasil’, Organzza. The team of comedians includes Junior Chicó, Babu Carreira and other big names.
