The legendary writer announced his departure from Elon Musk’s social network, calling the platform “too toxic” and moving to Threads.
American writer Stephen King has announced that he is leaving the social network X (formerly Twitter), citing its “toxic environment.”
In his post, the author encouraged his fans to follow him on Threads, a platform created by Mark Zuckerberg’s company Meta.
“I’m leaving Twitter. I was going to stay, but the atmosphere is too toxic. If you want, we can meet on Threads,” said Stephen’s message.
Before this, rumors appeared online that Elon Musk “kicked” the writer from the platform because of his harsh comments about the entrepreneur, including comparisons to “Trump’s new first lady.” However, King denied these claims, noting that the decision to leave the platform was his own and not related to Musk.
In the past, a conflict arose between King and Musk. After buying Twitter in 2022 for $44 billion, the billionaire announced a verification fee for blue check accounts, angering many users, especially King. The writer then threatened to leave the platform, but stayed when the change was not implemented.
Now King is doing it completely and irrevocably, as if to emphasize that he no longer wants to end up in a “toxic environment.”
It was previously reported that a panel of the Supreme Court of Brazil supported the decision to suspend the work of Elon Musk’s social network X (Twitter) in the country.
