American actress Gena Rowlands, best known for her role in the movie The Notebook, has died at the age of 94.
His death occurred on August 14, but the cause was not disclosed. Rowlands is known to have been battling Alzheimer’s disease, which causes brain damage, for the past five years. His son, director Nick Cassavetes, announced the loss in a comment to TMZ.
Cassavetes first spoke about his mother’s illness in June 2024, noting that the actress’ fate tragically paralleled that of his heroine from The Notebook. In the film, Gina played the elderly Ellie, who also suffered from dementia. He decided to do the difficult filming of this movie because his son is the director.
