Sexist comment leads to sports commentator’s dismissal

Co-commentator Lizzie Simmonds initially laughed off the comment but quickly called it “outrageous.” The backlash on social media was immediate, with users criticizing the comment as sexist. A clip of the broadcast was posted to TikTok with the caption criticizing “casual sexism” in Olympic coverage.

Eurosport issued a statement on Sunday saying Ballard’s comment was inappropriate and that he had been removed from the broadcaster’s commentary roster with immediate effect.
