Coletiva Filhas da Dita celebrates 17 years with free programming

Events include shows and exchanges of knowledge with important figures of Afro-Brazilian culture

Celebrating its 17th anniversary, Coletiva Filhas da Dita announces a free program in Cidade Tiradentes, from August 1st to 4th. Under the theme “Body-Repertoire-Daily Life, a Rescue”, the exhibition highlights three shows and promotes the appreciation of Afro-Brazilian culture, in addition to the territory that underpins the initiative.

On Thursday, August 1st, CEU Inácio Monteiro will host “Canto das Ditas” at 3 pm. Directed by Antonia Mattos, the show pays tribute to black women who were fundamental in the history of Cidade Tiradentes. The presentation is a tribute to grandmothers, mothers, aunts, sisters, cousins, neighbors and friends.

On Friday, August 2, at 10 am, the Cidade Tiradentes Cultural Training Center presents “LedAzeda”, a musical directed by Lua Lucas about the story of Leda, the most sour girl in the east zone, and her transformation through the fairy Ada. On the same day, there will be an exchange of knowledge with Dr. Leda Maria Martins, Salloma Salomão and Hilton Cobra.

On Saturday, August 3, at 6 pm, the acclaimed “Bring Me the Head of Lima Barreto”, written by Luiz Marfuz and directed by Onisajé (Fernanda Júlia), will be presented at CEU Inácio Monteiro. The play explores the life and legacy of writer Lima Barreto, addressing themes such as racism, madness and eugenics in Brazil in the early 20th century.

Closing the program, on Sunday, August 4th, at 11 am, there will be an experience with Hilton Cobra and Salloma Salomão at CEU Barro Branco.

Held with the support of the 8th edition of Fomento à Periferia, the Mostra das Ditas seeks to convey meanings, promote belonging and reflection on ethnic-racial diversity, ancestry and identities. “This project is about rescue, self-esteem and empowerment of ourselves and our trajectory”, highlights actress Lua Lucas.
