Drag queen from Ceará takes musical show to Rio for the first time, celebrating diversity and LGBTQIA+ culture
Before the Rio tour, Mulher Barbada will perform at Realness, the biggest drag art festival in Brazil, in São Paulo, on July 6th. Although this is her first solo tour in Rio, the artist has performed in the city on other occasions, including the Home Theater theater festival, Virada Cultural do CCBB and a season of shows with Coletivo As Travestidas, directed by Silvero Pereira .
“Rio has always been very welcoming, so I’m really excited to return to this solo work, with a sensational team that I deeply believe in. I feel a nice adrenaline rush, a chill on the back of my neck for returning to this city that has already welcomed me so well,” says Mulher Barbada. She is also known in Fortaleza’s nightlife for the “Samba da Barbada” and the LGBTQIA+ phenomenon “Bloco Mambembe”, which livens up the city’s carnival.
The album brings a musical dramaturgy that will be evident in the shows. The songs, composed by Mulher Barbada herself and other composers from Ceará, narrate in a linear way the pains and delights of passion: the meeting, the romance, the fight, the breakup, the mourning and the discovery of self-love.
