Álex Sousa is the first person with this gender identity to run for a seat in the municipal Legislature
The pre-candidacy was made official in May, during an event at the Amazonas Oil Workers Union (Sindipetro). With a career marked by activism and social engagement, this is the first time that Álex runs for an elected position.
In an interview with RealTime1, Álex stated that his objective is to promote comprehensive public policies, which include health, education, security, culture, sport, leisure and infrastructure. However, he emphasizes that his main themes will be human rights and the fight for the rights of the LGBTQIAPN+ population, with a special focus on the challenges faced by residents of the outskirts of Manaus, which are often forgotten in political discussions.
