Programming includes LGBTQIA+ fair, ballroom culture workshops, films and shows aimed at diversity
According to Priscilla Souza, MAR Projects educator, the program reflects the museum’s social commitment to the agenda of the city of Rio de Janeiro. “In addition to cultural and artistic programming, we are also focused on social action programming,” says Priscilla. Since June 1st, MAR and its Exhibition Pavilion have been illuminated with the colors of the LGBTQIA+ Pride flag, an action that has been taking place since 2021.
On June 27th and 28th, MAR will present the play “Manifesto Transpofágico”, directed by actress and director Renata Carvalho, which addresses the political and social history of transsexual and transvestite bodies. The session on the 27th is exclusive to MAR employees, while on International LGBTQIA+ Pride Day (28th), the session is open to the public, with free tickets available at Sympla.
