Coletiva Profanas de Teatro debuted in 2022 in national cinema with the film directed and starring the transvestite Morgana Olivia Manfrin. “fRuTaS!” presents in its narrative the borders of life and death, spectator and protagonist that the existential geographies of the trans population in Brazil provide us with. The project was carried out at the historic Cerâmica São Luiz, in Ribeirão Preto, and remains current in 2024 because Brazil continues as it is. champion in murders of trans people.
The Collective is made up of trans people living in favelas, mainly living artists, professionalized in the arts and now debuting and launching in the language of national cinema. With a film originating from the audiovisual adaptation of the play of the same name, with wide interstate circulation, from the South to the Northeast. The work is directed by the transvestite Morgana Olivia Manfrin.
The show arose from the objective of naturalizing and problematizing the ‘presence’ of trans and non-binary bodies on stage, after five years of theatrical and performative experiences in urban spaces, plus master’s research and current doctorate on non-binary language. binary at PPGAC ECA-USP.
Morgana has a master’s and doctoral degree in Performing Arts from USP in the area of Theater Theory and Practice and research in Trans-i- [ação]: Stages of the externalizing process of the gender performativity of a Brazilian body in the technology of hormoneization.
She is a playwright, performer, actress, director, art educator and gender pedagogue. She has a degree in Performing Arts and Theatrical Interpretation from UnB and Theater Direction from UFBA. In 2021, she defended her master’s research entitled “Queer Praxis of the scene: Path of transvestite and non-binary trans bodies in contemporary Brazilian performing arts” under the guidance of Theater and Gender scholar Prof.Dr.Ferdinando Martins, professor at USP.
She is the author of the autobiographical works “fRuTaS&tRaNs-GRESSÃO. Stories for Tangerines and Sea Mackerels.” (2018); “COCO!” (2019); “FUCK! or an object of penetration!” (2020) and “CartasPara(Ti)” (2021), his most recent work is Ritu.1/Penetra! This is a 6-hour Durational Performance (360 minutes) that premiered in October 2021 at CCSP (Centro Cultural São Paulo).
