LGBT+ Gospel Clip? We have!

The 27-year-old openly bisexual singer from Rio Grande do Norte, Artur Bezerra, has been exploring the gospel music scene and overcoming several challenges as an LGBT+ artist. And one of these challenges was bravely overcome in the artist’s recently released video for the Easter holiday.

In “For you to stay” I brought a script that possibly left any traditional fundamentalist religious person with their hair on end. In addition to celebrating diversity in the format of several families, in the clip he also alludes to the Holy Supper where he placed several LGBT+ people at the table in a simulation of this Christian ritual.

When you start watching the clip you come across several couples that make up the cast: there are homosexual couples, heterosexual couples and also a beautiful couple of lesbian trans girls. All the couples in the clip are real and accepted the artist’s invitation to further embellish the message against prejudice and inclusion of all people in any religion; including evangelical!

As an independent artist, Bezerra thrives on creativity and with a tight budget that comes out of his own pocket, he counts on his creativity to be able to deliver the excellent quality that has pursued him as an artist for a long time. Graduated in Cinema and passionate about photography, the singer followed every detail of the video’s production, including editing and post-finalization.

Partnership
The clip is a musical partnership with another gospel and LGBT+ artist, Jean Leão, from Rio, singer and music teacher. Together to make an even more pop sound and reach an audience well beyond churches. This production of the clip “Pra Você Ficar” is already being considered the best musical and audiovisual production this year in the Gospel LGBT+ segment.

“either I’m a big believer in LGBT people or I’m very LGBT in terms of believers,” says Bezerra.

The production of this new work involved more than 15 people involved in the entire process, script and editing; all under the watchful eye of Arthur Bezerra, who makes a point of following every detail and brought together an entire staff in Natal (RN), where the clip was recorded, and provided him with autonomy for production, development and creative execution – as he still does not belong to any record label or producer in the industry.

The new feature is part of the album “Alabastro” and is the third song and third video released simultaneously; Now there’s just one more song left, which will still be released this year and then include the full release of the album – which promises to be even more innovative.

“When I release the full album, people will be surprised by the aesthetic quality that ‘Alabaster’ will be; totally pop, danceable and quite eye-catching”, he comments.

Jean Leão says that at the same time the invitation to participate in the feat came up, he accepted and thought the clip’s script to include different couples was an excellent idea as a great possibility of breaking religious prejudices.

For Jean, in addition to the lyrics being a prayer in the form of a song, he believes that this audiovisual project further empowers the LGBT+ community, showing that everyone can occupy any space without segregation.

With this partnership, they positioned themselves in such a surprising way and with extreme quality that it was considered the most innovative in the “Inclusive Christian” sector, achieving praise from even non-religious people, who came to know and appreciate the work of both artists.

Recently Arthur Bezerra received the “Hangar” award (a northeastern musical award), where he won the award for best gospel artist. Being the first LGBT artist in our country to receive this award.
