Legal dispute exposed an intricate web of simulated financial transactions and family conflicts
Bruna Haber, 24, won a high-profile victory at the São Paulo Court of Justice (TJ-SP) after a prolonged legal battle over the inheritance of her father, former money changer Roger Clement Haber.
The legal dispute exposed an intricate web of simulated financial transactions and family conflicts related to the legacy left by Roger, one of the most prominent money changers in the country, who died in 2010. In her search for recognition and equity, Bruna Haber, who came out as a woman trans in 2011, faced the challenge of proving her connection with Roger and claiming her share of the inheritance.
The verdict of the appeal presented by the Haber family recognized the simulation of financial operations aimed at diverting assets to a company controlled by the family, Zenith, and granted Bruna the right to possession of a mansion in Campos do Jordão (SP), valued at R$ 8.5 million.
The court decision was based on evidence such as a recording of a conversation between Bruna and Eduardo Haber, one of Roger’s sons. In this dialogue, Eduardo admitted that the assets left by his father are considerably larger than those declared in the inventory, suggesting irregular financial transactions on the part of the family.
