The Monk Hilarion the New, abbot of Pelicitsky, from his youth devoted himself to the service of God and spent many years in solitude. For his purity and holiness of life, he was first awarded the rank of presbyter, and then appointed abbot of the monastery of Pelicite (near the Dardanelles Strait).
He has the gift of healing and exorcism. He dedicated his life to helping people. They say that he knows how to make it rain in the height of the summer drought, fills his nets with fish when there is no catch, and drives away birds and pests from the fields.
Hilarion lived a long life and suffered martyrdom from the commander Lakhanodrakon, who was persecuting the Christians.
