Vakarchuk apologized for his political past

The lead singer of the Ukrainian group Ocean Elsa Svyatoslav Vakarchuk spoke about his political past. He spoke about it in an interview with UP.

The star admitted that he would not want to get involved in politics again. Vakarchuk says he believes his creativity brings more benefits.

“I will not want to be involved in politics in my life. I believe that what I am doing now is as effective as possible, it gives me harmony and fulfillment, and above all, at the moment it has many benefits. I am absolutely sure of this,” – said the musician.

Vakarchuk also publicly apologized for not living up to people’s expectations and called his political career a “big mistake.”

“I think I once made a big mistake when I underestimated the level of hope people had for a certain political figure. I underestimated how much people had hope for me as a man. I didn’t realize that my approach to politics, when you come down to it, is to help other people express themselves and be who they are, to create a new environment, which is different from what most people feel , where they need a certain person in whom they especially want to invest their dreams , desires and everything else. I despise it and I want to apologize to all these people. Because of a certain way I didn’t live up to their expectations for me. I didn’t do it out of malice. My mistake was not realizing it. That’s why I’m so grateful for this heartache. But I want to say honestly that in all my life I have done, am doing and will do in my place everything I can so that my country is strong, honest, and fair,” he said.
