He shared the history of his home in Irpen and expressed gratitude to the neighbors who helped save his home from the hands of the invaders.
Colombian-born chef, restaurateur and judge Master Chef Hector Jimenez-Bravo, who has lived in Ukraine for the past 15 years, spoke about how his neighbors saved his house in Irpen. This happened during the Russian occupation.
“The story of my house in Irpin. During the occupation, all our neighbors left, except for the neighbors who lived on the right side of my house. They were there all the time. They were Ukrainians, but they have lived in the USA for a very long time, and now they are retired. I know that they have no medicine, no water, no gas. I returned to my car with medicine and water, food. When the people saw me neighbors, they told me a story that in my house they wrote the word “Man” – said the cook.
He added that the Russians came and knocked on every house.
“When they came to the last townhouse where my neighbors lived, they asked about my house. And they said, ‘Don’t go in, there’s an old woman living there who seems to have a virus, you might get sick.’ This is how it’s protected my house belongs to my neighbors. They did not enter my house. When I came back, the door behind my garden was open, but there was no one in my house. I am grateful to my neighbors,” Jimenez-Bravo said.
