Hutchins was shot and killed on the set of the western film Rust, which was being filmed near Santa Fe in New Mexico in October 2021.
American actor Alec Boluvin pleaded not guilty to the murder of Ukrainian cameraman Galina Hutchins during the filming of the movie “Rust”. The BBC reported it.
In particular, the day before the hearing in the Santa Fe court, he entered a plea of not guilty. Now the hearing, scheduled for Thursday, February 1, will not take place.
Baldwin said he did not pull the trigger on the .45-caliber Colt pistol, but only pulled it back.
He also insisted that he was not at fault for Hutchins’ death because he did not know the weapon contained live ammunition and that there should not have been any live ammunition on set.
But special prosecutors for New Mexico said in October that they had commissioned forensic experts to reconstruct the weapon after it was destroyed in FBI testing.
According to them, the analysis revealed that the incident could only have happened if the trigger was pulled.
“Although Alec Baldwin has repeatedly denied that he pulled the trigger, based on the tests, findings and observations herein, the trigger must have been pulled or pulled sufficiently to release the full or retracted hammer of the revolver for evidence,” the report said.
If the actor is found guilty of negligent homicide in 2021, he faces up to 18 months in prison.
It was previously reported that Alec Baldwin has been charged with manslaughter as prosecutors once again try to bring the actor to justice for the death of Ukrainian cameraman Galina Hutchins.
