The Marvel star recalled learning in 2001 after a disturbing dream that he had a brain tumor the size of a golf ball.
Hollywood actor Mark Ruffalo has spoken about his battle with a brain tumor, which he was diagnosed with in 2001. The Daily Mail reported it.
In particular, in an episode of the SmartLess podcast, the actor admitted that he found out that he had a brain tumor the size of a golf ball after the success of the movie “You Can Count on Me.” According to the star, he decided to undergo a CT scan after having a nightmare.
“The nurse called the doctor, I heard them talking in the other room. He came in like he wasn’t himself and said, ‘You have a mass behind your left ear the size of a golf ball, and we don’t know. what it is. We won’t be able to say until we do a biopsy,” the actor recalled.
Before he was diagnosed, the only symptom he had was an ear infection. Although the tumor was thankfully benign, Ruffalo, 33, required surgery to remove the growth.
Also, at that time, his wife Sunrise Coyney was due to give birth to their first child, son Keene, now 22 years old. In order not to upset her, she waited for the baby to be born and only then did she tell him about her illness.
The actor noted that the risks of the surgery included a 20 percent chance of killing a nerve on the left side of his face and a 70 percent chance of hearing loss in his left ear. As a result, the operation led to paralysis of half of the artist’s face. He later recovered, but lost his hearing.
“I was deaf in one ear, when I woke up after anesthesia, the left side of my face was completely paralyzed. I can’t even close my eyes. I spoke out of one side of my mouth. A year later, the paralysis passed, but my hearing never returned,” he said actor.
It was previously reported that Mark Ruffalo, famous for his role as Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, said what needs to be done to end Russia’s war in Ukraine.
