The artist has always expressed pride in his country and brought great joy to his countrymen by becoming world famous.
A 6.5-meter bronze statue of singer Shakira performing her iconic belly dance has been unveiled in the Colombian city of Barranquilla. HOLA reported it.
It was learned that the statue was unveiled on Tuesday, December 26, in the presence of the singer’s parents, William Mebarak and Nydia Ripoll.
The six-ton sculpture is accompanied by a plaque celebrating the singer’s career and his work: “A heart, hips that don’t lie, an unparalleled talent, a voice that moves the masses and feet that walk for for the good of children and humanity,” it said.
The statue was created by artist Ino Marquez in the La Paz area with the support of students and graduates of the area’s art school.
The 46-year-old Grammy winner herself has since responded to the event. He said he was very happy especially since it happened on his mother’s birthday.
