Catherine and Jane knelt before Andrew Dotchin and received the canon’s blessing at St. John the Baptist Church.
“We give thanks for Catherine and Jane, for the love and friendship they share, and for the commitment they show to each other as they stand before You this day, trusting You as the guardian of all goodness, strengthening their love with Your love and gladdening their hearts with His joy.”said the priest.
In an interview with the ITV News portal, which broadcast the ceremony, Jane celebrated the union and the wedding celebrated.
“It was an opportunity for us to feel our love and our relationship being blessed in this building. I feel it is healing, it is inclusive and I want to encourage other same-sex couples to come forward, to know that the Church of England loves them.” she said.
