One of the artist’s brothers took part in the defense of Mariupol and died on April 15, 2022 during the extraordinary victory of the invaders in Azovstal.
The famous Ukrainian rapper Vyacheslav Drofa, better known by the pseudonym OTOY, announced the death of his older brother in the war. The corresponding video was shared on the TabloID Instagram page.
The musician said that he learned about the death of a loved one on the eve of the award ceremony for the Ukrainian Pravda Prize – UP100, where 100 leaders of Ukraine were awarded according to the editors. Then, speaking at the closing of the event, he announced the tragic news from the stage.
As OTOY admitted, his older brother served in the Marine Corps. The artist also remembered his other brother Dmitry, whose death was known on April 15, 2022.
“Yesterday my grandmother called me and said that my older brother is also gone. I asked myself, are they leaders? In my opinion, they are the leaders of their family and the lowest. At the maximum – for every Ukrainian. And in general people and the country. And For myself, I realized an important lesson. There is no such story that you are a leader one week, a leader tomorrow, a leader when you plan for yourself. Tomorrow that it’s not coming, and the only trace you leave, and the only path in life is the one behind. Therefore, we do it here and now,” the rapper said.
