The 23-year-old influencer said she went through delicate situations with her mother after coming out as bisexual
At 18 years old, the influencer Maria Ventur He realized his sexuality after falling in love with a girl from Rio de Janeiro. Before her discovery, the YouTuber had already felt something other than friendship for certain girls since she was a child, but according to her, she was still too young to understand it properly. Now 23, she recalled the frustrating and lonely process, mainly due to the fights she had with her mother.
“When I came out I went through delicate situations with my own mother. Everything was already very difficult in my mind and feeling rejected by my mother made everything even more complicated. She thought it was incredible that I had always dated men and, suddenly, started to be attracted to women. I lived with her and we argued practically every day, until after a fight she asked me to leave the house. The next day I came to São Paulo to live alone and start my life over again.”said.
Despite the disagreements, Maria said that she currently has a great relationship with her mother: “I was 18 years old, I didn’t talk to her for months. But then everything was resolved in the best way. Nowadays, besides being my best friend, my mother is the person who supports me the most.”
With a much more widespread debate about sexuality compared to the past, the influencer says she is welcomed and loved by everyone, in addition to being very well-rounded with herself. According to her, it was a matter of patience and time, since at the time she had very limiting thoughts as she grew up in a small town, with more traditional customs and people.
Today, with more than 6 million followers on Instagram, the young woman gave a message to those who are in this process of discovery and said that she considers herself an active voice for bisexual people: “Don’t stick to any label for now, just experience and feel. Don’t judge yourself in this process, have maximum patience and care for yourself. And if at any point you feel like you don’t have the approval of someone you love: ‘hug yourself tight, breathe, and understand that opinions are just points of view that can be easily changed.”.
“I consider myself a voice, but if I’m not already, I want this to be part of my purpose. We need to naturalize our sexuality more and more, so that in the next generations it will no longer be a taboo. There is nothing wrong or confusing about loving someone, regardless of whether they are a man or a woman. Experiencing love is one of the most genuine things we can do in this life! And if it is up to me, I will plant this seed everywhere I go”, finished.
