The singer had an exclusive chat with Máxima Digital and commented on her new release with Dennis DJ and much more!
Last Thursday, 19th, Valesca Popozuda It is Dennis DJ released the song Eu Vou Pro Baile Tacar, which brings back the funk from Rio de Janeiro from the 2000s.
In conversation with Máxima Digital, Valesca commented on the partnership with Dennis, the changes and challenges during his career and the criticism he receives due to his age and his work.
The song Eu Vou Pro Baile Tacar is the first partnership between the artists, during the chat the artist commented on how the idea for the feat came about: “After ‘Tá Ok’, which is a phenomenon, he said he had this vibe of bringing back old-school funk and I’m super into that vibe, the rootsy Rio beat. So the wedding was perfect.”
Valesca used the clip to rescue her origins and appears in a cage, making reference to Gaiola das Popozudas, the group where the artist gained recognition.
In the conversation, Valesca spoke about the feeling of using the cage again in her work: “I can’t see a cage that I want to enter (laughs). It represented a lot of good things. Where I came from and where I arrived. The dances they sang, the achievements with Gaiola das Popozudas. I am eternally grateful and happy for this phase” .
With many years working in the world of music, Valesca commented on the changes over time: “I think I’m mature, in each of these phases. More confident in myself, with more self-love, who knows how to celebrate achievements but also knows how to face defeats.”
“I’m the same, but in an evolved version. And I hope that the Valesca of 2033, 2043, 2053 and so on will continue this growth”, continued.
“TThere was a time when I really cared about criticism. Nowadays I don’t care anymore. Hater won’t learn to like you. You can do exactly what he wants and he will find a way to criticize you in another way”, he spoke.
“So there’s no point. Machismo is the same thing. But I’m going to change my life because someone doesn’t like the way I dress, the way I dance and the way I communicate? Never. Put up with it or freak out”, continued.
This year, Valesca turned 45 and, with that, started offensive comments on social media due to her age. Regarding the way she deals with ageist speeches, the singer said: “I’ll let them talk.”
“I am a woman who is very well-rounded with my body, my age, my speech and my attitudes. Gone are the days where I let other people’s opinions affect me. Today I just want to know how to live because life is short and passes quickly . I turned 45 full of energy and vitality”, finished.
