If the court finds him guilty of the operator’s death, he could be jailed for up to 18 months.
Producer and leading actor in a Western rust, during the filming of which the cameraman and Ukrainian-born Galina Hutchins died, Alec Baldwin may face new charges. NBC News reported it.
It is known that the New Mexico Grand Jury will soon decide whether Alec Baldwin will stand trial.
“After a thorough investigation over the past several months, additional facts have emerged that we believe implicate Mr. Baldwin in the death of Galina Hutchins and the injury of Joel Souza,” said New Mexico Special Prosecutors Kari Morrissey and Jason Lewis in a statement.
Prosecutors asked a jury to decide whether to proceed with the case against Baldwin.
Prosecutors no longer believe the gun was tampered with, according to media reports. They allegedly uncovered new evidence showing Baldwin was reckless in maintaining safety standards on set.
But Baldwin’s attorneys, Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro, called the prosecutors’ actions a “false prosecution.”
Three members of the film’s crew also filed a lawsuit against Baldwin. They claim that they were also injured in the gunfire and are demanding compensation.
We remind you that a peace agreement was signed between the family of the murdered Hutchins and Baldwin.
