Actor Sam Neill reports terminal illness

The Jurassic Park star has been in remission for 12 months. He is currently taking a new experimental drug.

New Zealand actor Sam Neill has admitted that he has been diagnosed with stage three blood cancer. The Daily Mail reported this.

At the same time, the star of the film Jurassic Park added that he is not afraid of death and is now undergoing therapy with new experimental drugs, because chemotherapy did not work.

Despite the good news, the 76-year-old star, who has been in remission for 12 months, knows it won’t last forever. Doctors told him that one day the medicine would stop working.

“I’m not afraid of death in any way. It doesn’t bother me. It never bothered me to begin with, but I’m annoyed because I still have things I want to do. Dying is annoying. But I’m not afraid of it. ” – said the actor.

Neill added that he found out he had cancer last year on his first trip to New Zealand after lockdowns made returning home to see family almost impossible for two years.

His son Tim said his father had only been back in New Zealand for an hour when the doctor called him with the devastating news that he had cancer.

“When he hung up, we sat down and cried a little. It was supposed to be a fun day. But he couldn’t stay,” said Tim.

Sam continued: “I’m really fighting for my life. And it’s all in a new world, and it’s quite a worrying world. I’ve had three or four months of quite traditional and brutal chemotherapy.”

The actor now receives infusions every two weeks and will do so for the rest of his life or until the drug wears off.
