The journalist said that the LGBTQIAPN+ community had to defend the former president’s son
The journalist Manoel Soares was among the most talked about topics on the web after making a post in support of Jair Renan Bolsonarowho had his privacy exposed by his former advisor, Diego Pupe.
On his social networks, Manoel wrote: “The challenge for the LGBT community now is to find the strength to defend Renan Bolsonaro, who, like many homosexuals, must have suffered from his father’s homophobia.”
After publication, internet users criticized the journalist’s stance: “Well, well, if it isn’t Manoel Soares appropriating a place of speech that isn’t his (as far as I know)”, “Yes, all we need is a straight, cis man, telling us what the great challenge of the community to which we belong. Thank you, Manoel.”
“Next time, consider posting something in support of the community and not an irony (very poorly designed, by the way) just to try to be funny at the worst possible moment,” fired another.
With the negative repercussion, Manoel returned to his social networks to clarify that the post had an ironic tone: “Seriously, I needed to add (irony), really? Just like the stab and the presence of Hélio behind him, this movement of the son for me is a shower… Let’s move on.”
“Guys, I just opened X and saw the repercussions, I hadn’t seen it before. Firstly, yes, it was ironic to see that the Bolsonarists were posting Renan’s interview, asking for his support after yesterday’s vote. If it weren’t, I would support it. But if my speech was wrong, forgive me”, continued.
“Friends, I just spoke to a big brother who is an authority on the LGBT struggle and he convinced me that, despite my good intentions, I left a gap for the movement to be charged. So, let me record here that I recognize my hesitation. To the LGBT friends who reached out to me, thank you,” said in another post.

Despite the retraction, internet users still criticized the journalist: “Did you need someone who is an authority (?) in the LGBT struggle to be convinced?”, “And does it have to be a ‘big brother who is an authority’ to convince you? I didn’t understand anything”.
“Be sure to take advantage of the next opportunities to remain silent about matters that you have no experience with, Manoel. Always good”, said another. “This thing about Manoel Soares talking shit (and pretending with a straight face that it was irony) just shows how we need to wait a while to define the entire image of a person because of something that happened”, scored one more.
