His right leg gave out, forcing him to undergo hip replacement surgery.
Leg problems are known to be associated with road accidents. The accident occurred on June 19, 1999, when King was hit by a car.
Then the writer had fractures of his right leg, hip and ribs. He also suffered a lung injury and a head injury as a result of the accident. Then the doctors even considered the possibility of amputating the leg.
