The jury of the International Photography Prize has announced this year’s winners, including photos about the Russian-Ukrainian war.
German photographer Wolfgang Schwan’s shot has won the 2023 International Photography Awards. This is stated on the award website.
In particular, the man showed a photo of Elena Kurilo, a teacher from Chuguev, who was injured as a result of the missile attack, which was on the front pages of many well-known publications.
Wolfgang Schwan won first place in the Editorial/Press category of the War subcategory, receiving the Press Photographer Of the Year award.
“In early January 2022, I traveled to eastern Ukraine for the first time with the aim of covering environmental history. For the next two months, I covered daily life in the trenches of Donbass. During this time , I am very grateful for the hospitality and generosity of the Ukrainians. I decided to stay during the February 24 war, and throughout 2022 worked on news and stories about everyday life,” said the photographer.

Also, first place in the Book Photographer Of the Year category was awarded to a collaboration of 93 photojournalists about the war in Ukraine called Ukraine: A War Crime.

Additionally, in the Professional Editorial nomination of the Press subcategory, Political received a photo of Vladimir Zelensky after photographer Mark Abraham addressed the US Congress.

It was previously reported that the Ukrainian postage stamp “Russian warship, go…!” won the highest award of the international philatelic art prize Asiago.
