“I was happy to approach my sexuality, not only as a form of personal liberation, but also because I did it within a theatrical environment… Art gave me that liberation”he told UOL.
The actor continued: “Talking about it is a joy, as it means I don’t have to conform to the expectations of a society that is often hypocritical and prevents people from being themselves. It all happened at the right time for me. Many people live in fear and feel trapped. Each one has their right moment to share what they need.”.
Rodrigo commented on the fact that people’s sexual orientation generates so much curiosity. “There’s still a big taboo around it. The more we talk about it openly and normally, the less it will be ‘sensationalized’. The play gave me the maturity and tranquility to talk about it.”, he said.
In the show, the protagonist questions the sexuality of the character of Shakespeare.
“It’s an intense experience. Perhaps it’s the biggest challenge of my life, both as a character on stage and as myself, Rodrigo”, he said.
