The Academy Award winner made 33 dives under the Atlantic Ocean to film his iconic 1997 movie.
Titanic director James Cameron reacts to the tragedy of the Titanic bathyscaphe, whose destruction was discovered on June 22. He said this in a commentary on ABC News.
According to him, he was struck by the similarities between the collapses of the liner that sank in 1912 after hitting an iceberg, and a submarine with five people on board.
“I was struck by the parallels with the Titanic disaster, where the captain was repeatedly warned about ice floating ahead of his ship, but he quickly rushed towards the icebergs,” he said.
Also, the director, who built his own sub, was critical of OceanGate’s use of a carbon fiber hull, calling it unreliable.
It is noteworthy that on board the submarine are: OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, famous French explorer Paul-Henri Narjolet, British billionaire Hamish Harding, 48-year-old Shahzada Davud and his 19-year-old son which is Suleiman Davud.
It will be remembered that in the Atlantic Ocean, an underwater vehicle is missing, which brings tourists to examine the remains of the sunken Titanic.
