Today, April 13th, is Kiss Day! The date is celebrated around the world as a way to show love and affection through a simple gesture. The origin of the celebration is not very clear, but there are several stories and legends that try to explain how this tradition began.
One of the versions says that, in 1882, in Italy, Enrico Porchelo became known for kissing many women in his village. The behavior bothered the region’s priest, who decided to create a prize for the first woman who confessed not to having been kissed by the young man.
On April 13th, no one showed up to claim the prize and, thus, Kiss Day was born, originating from a somewhat unusual story, but honoring one of humanity’s greatest symbols of affection.
