7 types of foods that improve the health and beauty of the skin

If you want to have healthy skin, it’s important to maintain a balanced diet, with an adequate amount of vitamins, minerals and proteins. No single food is responsible for building and maintaining skin. Thus, diets that prioritize certain foods over others can deprive your body of an essential nutrient and cause damage to your body and your skin.

Check out, below, some tips from nutritionist and phytotherapist Priscila Mathias about healthy foods that help in skin maintenance and prevent premature aging.

1. Consume Vitamin C

It assists in the synthesis of collagen in the body, acting as an antioxidant. It also helps whiten the skin and protects against damage from sun exposure. Recommended foods: citric fruits, pomegranate, kiwi, acerola, guava, orange and cashew.

2. Bet on lean proteins

They help in the production of collagen, reflecting on the good elasticity of the skin. Recommended foods: salmon, canned tuna preserved in water, poultry, white cheese, tofu, eggs and chickpeas.

3. Vitamin E against time

She fight aging and prevents the appearance of wrinkles and body malfunctions, protecting cells from the action of free radicals. Recommended foods: hazelnut, sunflower seed, peanut, Brazil nut, almond and safflower oil.

4. Beta carotene – tanning vitamin

An antioxidant, beta-carotene prevents skin aging and promotes tanning. Recommended foods: carrot, acerola, pumpkin, beet, papaya, mango, squash, melon and sweet potato.

5. Cocoa – the deliciousness that protects

Intake of this food promotes photoprotection and maintenance of skin health, as it increases blood flow in cutaneous and subcutaneous tissues. In addition, it stimulates skin density and therefore hydration. It also decreases water loss, roughness and flaking of the skin, protects against premature aging and helps prevent skin cancer.

6. Hydrate with açaí

Rich in omega 3, açaí protects the skin against dehydration, improving the production of ceramics (natural moisturizers of the skin itself). Therefore, it is suitable for dry or aging skin.

7. Green tea – the health ally

It fights aging skin cells, helps prevent cancer, is rich in antioxidants, and helps protect from the sun’s rays. In addition, it repels acne-causing bacteria.
