Halls, who has more than 80 films to his credit, was the only crew member to get a plea deal.
The US District Court issued the first verdict in the case of the 2021 death of Ukrainian cameraman Galina Hutchins while filming the western Rust in New Mexico. This was reported by The Guardian.
Assistant director David Halls, who was responsible for security on the set, pleaded guilty.
Judge Mary Marlow Sommer sentenced Holles, who was in charge of on-set security, to six months of unsupervised probation, a $500 fine, 24 hours of community service, and a gun safety course.
“Halls did not test every round in the gun to make sure it was a fake round and not a live round,” State Attorney Kari Morrissey said during the plea hearing.
It was previously reported that three members of the film crew of the movie Rust sued Alec Baldwin and the film’s producers.
