A year after its launch, the second Horizon entered the PS Plus catalogue. It is a direct continuation of Horizon Zero Dawn, and those who haven’t played the first one will get a little lost in the first parts of the story, which even do a good job of passing on the basics of events.
Story of the new game
In this game, you control Aloy, who needs to prevent an unknown plague that is infecting the soil, from ending the life that was rebuilt after the apocalypse of a thousand years ago. Aloy must face not only savage robots, but also hostile tribes that are scattered westward from the ancient USA.
What has changed in the game?
Just as the story is continuation, the rest of the game follows the same line – it looks more like “Horizon 1.5” than “Horizon 2”. Almost all enemies return with the same characteristics, the type of exploration, the conversations, the combat style with archery and other weapons that mix rustic with fiction… everything makes anyone who played Zero Dawn feel at home.
All this resemblance is not bad, because Zero Dawn is an excellent game, but Forbidden West ends up being less impressive because it repeats the same tricks and only puts really different elements in the most advanced parts. It also takes away some of the sense of exploration and reward by marking the location of all collectibles and robotic pets on the map.
High quality graphics
Forbidden West is, like its predecessor, a very beautiful game on PS4. However, in PlayStation 5, he is absurd, one of the most beautiful out there. The graphics are simply not the same, all the textures are of very high quality and with much more detail. It’s worth playing at 30fps and 4K, as you don’t see games with this level of visual quality today.
