discover the technique that helps to reduce measures

The exercise loved by celebrities also offers several health benefits

Shrinking your belly when taking photos is very common, especially when you are not happy with the abdominal fat that insists on appearing, even practicing physical exercises. However, what many don’t know is that some types of movements made with the body can help eliminate some measures.

By contracting the belly, correctly and under the guidance of a professional, you are practicing “hypopressive abdominals” – or hypopressive gymnastics -, which works to strengthen the muscles of the abdomen. The technique helps to reduce back pain and, at the same time, helps to eliminate waist measurements, especially for postpartum women. No wonder this exercise became the darling of the famous.

How does hypopressive work?

According to Julia Borges, a physiotherapist specialist in diastasis and hypopressive, the hypopressive abdominal is an exercise that works on body posture and breathing with the abdominal vacuum (when we suck the belly in). With more than 55 postures, each with its function, the exercise is a continuous work of improvement. That’s because, for it to work, the muscle needs to be activated correctly.

However, be very careful when practicing. Julia explains that it is always important to be accompanied by a professional to perform the hypopressive abdominal correctly: “you should always start with a professional licensed for the method – for your safety and to be able to enjoy all the benefits that the technique provides”.

Main benefits

In addition to the advantages related to the aesthetic part, hypopressive has multiple benefits that can help you to have a healthier life and more disposition in your daily life. As examples, one can cite the improvement of body posture, prevention and treatment of urinary incontinence.

Check out some more benefits listed by Julia Borges below:

  • Treats diastasis;
  • Improves the functioning of the intestine;
  • Improves breathing;
  • Relieves menstrual colic;
  • Improves sexual and sports performance.

Abdominal hypopressive slimming?

One of the myths that most people believe about hypopressives is that they lose weight, but despite decreasing waist circumference, exercise does not help to lose weight. It just does the job of repositioning the internal organs to lower abdominal pressure.

Therefore, the practice does not reduce the percentage of body fat or define the abdomen. Therefore, if you want to obtain results with this abdominal type, it is necessary to associate the practice with a regulated feeding and the practice of exercises which promote fat burning.

important precautions

Despite the numerous benefits, hypopressive is not recommended for everyone, so it’s so important to consult an expert. People with high blood pressure, for example, should not practice this exercise, as the technique raises blood pressure and it may take time to normalize.

Another group that should also avoid abdominal hypopressive are pregnant women. This is because it is not possible to predict whether exercise can initiate contractions in the uterus, influencing a premature birth or miscarriage.

Hypopressive and post-pregnancy

In recent times, the technique has also become the darling of celebrities to regain body definition after pregnancy and avoid diastasis. Following the examples of Eliana, Thais Fersoza, Gisele Bundchen and Thais Pacholeck, you can already conclude that hypopressive abdominal exercises help a lot in the postpartum period, and physiotherapist Julia Borges explains why.

“I like to say that all mothers in the postpartum period should undergo hypopressive therapy, for several reasons, such as: it improves posture (which was and will continue to be overloaded due to the baby), repositions the internal organs (which were out of place because gestation) and the main thing: it’s a mom moment. After all, she needs care too, it’s a time just for her! And it can be done at home and does not require much time”, concludes the professional.
