The journalist is away from the newsstand for this week
This Wednesday, the 11th, William Bonner explained the reason for being away from the bench of the National Journal. On his Instagram, the journalist said that he has problems with his voice.
“I’ve only been working on editing the JN, this week. The voice is bad. Yesterday, it was more painful to be like this, unable to present.”, he said.
He also regretted not having paid tribute to the station’s former director of journalism, Alberico de Souza Cruz: “I wish I could have given Alberico’s family and many friends the sincere air of my respect, my consideration and my gratitude. He was an important boss. He was the one who made me co-head a news program for the first time, exactly 29 years and 40 days.”.
“The last time I saw him, on the birthday of one of his daughters, motivators of fair and public pride, I saw Alberico climb steps that had changed my breathing, heart rate, self-esteem.”, said Bonner.
“With more than 2 years of battle against the disease, he climbed the same steps with a cane in his right hand, his eyes shining. And he arrived with that smile of the victors. He didn’t care about the steps. He had more important and perennial victories than to be proud of.” finished.
Alberico was 84 years old and was diagnosed with leukemia two and a half years ago. Last week he was admitted to Clínica São Vicente, in Rio de Janeiro, due to complications from the disease, but he did not survive.
