In January 2022, the couple announced Lua’s rare disease, the girl was diagnosed with a rare type of eye cancer called retinoblastoma. Since then, Tiago, 42, and Daiana, 41, have made several publications warning parents about the disease.

In the video published at the beginning of last year, they gave details of how they arrived at the diagnosis: “At the beginning of October last year we found out that our daughter, Lua, has cancer.”

“She has a type of eye cancer, very rare, retinoblastoma, which is a cancer that occurs in the cells of the retina. They end up having a disorderly growth and end up forming tumors, which can be in just one eye, or as in the case of our daughter, bilateral. She has a tumor in each eye”, explained.

“We’ve been treating it for four months and we’ve thought long and hard about whether we’re going to say anything. And the consensus among family and friends is that we shouldn’t have said anything. We’re extremely discreet in our personal lives, we hardly ever post anything of the our day to day.” they said

During the filming, they told that it is a rare disease, with about 200 cases in Brazil, that affects young children, two and three years old, and that is why it is difficult to receive the diagnosis and so they decided to share Lua’s case with Internet users.

“Only that after Lua’s last chemotherapy, we started to change our opinion a little, which is knowing what we know and not sharing it with you”, completed.
