Last Thursday, the 16th, Emma Heming Williswife of Bruce Willis, updated the actor’s fans about his health status through his social networks. In 2022, the 67-year-old actor was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, in the text she thanked the messages of support and spoke about Bruce’s health.
“We wanted to give you an update on our beloved husband, father and friend as we now have a deeper understanding of what he is experiencing. Since we announced Bruce’s diagnosis of aphasia in the spring of 2022, the condition of Bruce has progressed and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (known as FTD).”she began.
“Unfortunately, communication challenges are just a symptom of the illness Bruce is facing. While this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis. FTD is a cruel disease that many of us have never heard of and it can strike anyone.”he said.
“For people under age 60, FTD is the most common form of dementia, and because diagnosis can take years, FTD is likely much more prevalent than we know. Today there are no treatments for the disease, a reality that we hope can change in the coming years.”, he spoke.
“As Bruce’s condition progresses, we hope any media attention can be focused on shining a light on this disease that needs much more awareness and research,” continued.
“Bruce has always believed in using your voice in the world to help others and raise awareness of important issues, both publicly and privately. We know in our hearts that, if he could today, he would want to respond by bringing global attention and a connection to those who are also dealing with this debilitating disease and how it affects so many individuals and their families…” vented.
“Bruce has always found joy in life and has helped everyone he knows to do the same. It means the world to see that feeling of care echoed back to him and to all of us. We were so touched by the love you all shared for our dear husband, father and friend during this difficult time. Your continued compassion, understanding and respect will allow us to help Bruce live as fulfilling a life as possible.” she finished.
