3. Precious: A Story of Hope (2009)

Oscar winner for best adapted screenplay, in 2010, and starring Gabourey Sidibe, the cinematographic production portrays a sad reality that still torments society. The film tells the story of Claireece Jones, a 16-year-old teenager raped by her father (Rodney Jackson) and abused by her mother (Mo’Nique), who suffers a series of deprivations during her youth.
Growing up angry, loveless, poor and outside the standards demanded by society, Claireece finds herself pregnant again from her father’s abuse. To make matters worse, the girl, who no longer knew how to read and write, is suspended from the school where she studied. However, even with no hope of escaping this tortuous reality, the teenager is surprised by an opportunity to be transferred to an alternative school under the guidance of a new teacher.
