Investigators said the artist pulled a revolver from its holster, pointed it at Hutchins, and fired the weapon.
Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin and gun prop consultant Hannah Gutierrez Reid have been charged with murdering Ukrainian cameraman Galina Hutchins on the set of Rust in 2021. The Associated Press reported this, citing court documents.
Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Oltvis filed the charges and presented evidence that the defendants repeatedly violated safety regulations.
Prosecutors said Baldwin’s involvement as a producer and the shooter influenced the decision to file charges.
So, in the past few weeks, Carmack-Oltvis has filed two counts of manslaughter.
The first paragraph requires proof of negligence, which is punishable by up to 18 months in prison and a $5,000 fine.
The second – provides a penalty for neglecting safety “without due care and diligence.” There is a five-year prison sentence because the crime was committed with a gun.
Prosecutors said the jury could decide which definition of manslaughter to use.
It was previously reported that the Santa Fe Sheriff’s Office has ended its investigation into a fatal shooting on set when Ukrainian-born cameraman Galina Hutchins was killed.
