“I thought it might be freshness”

According to her, Bless did not like to step on the grass and felt bad with stronger smells, in the conversation, the presenter revealed that she treated it as “freshness”. Besides the boy, Giovanna is the mother of Auntiefrom 9, and Zyanaged 2, with her husband Bruno Gagliasso.

In a recent interview, the artist told the reason for revealing her son’s diagnosis to the public: “Manoel was talking about the diagnosis of his children and said that, many times, he saw that he was disturbing the children, at some point, in relation to the diagnosis, his two children are autistic. And then, when he was talking, my story with Bless came to mind too.”

“I even said in the videocast that he had a ‘sensory syndrome’ and it’s not even a syndrome, because I wasn’t speaking there as a specialist, I was speaking as a mother and giving a report on how the diagnosis was for me”, said.

Giovanna opened her heart and said that, before the diagnosis, she did not know how to deal with what her son felt: “I thought it could be freshness, he didn’t like to step on the grass, he smelled a lot. When it was too loud, he covered his ears.”

“So I started looking for different doctors until I found one who referred me to an occupational therapist. It’s just that the treatment is with occupational therapy. Today Bless deals with the disorder wonderfully well, it seems as if he has nothing, because he, in fact, learns to deal with this heightened sensory through occupational therapy and begins to be able to deal with it in environments, outside the home”, she explained.

For her, guilt and motherhood go hand in hand: “People who are mothers blame themselves all the time, right? We are always trying to get it right, but what we think is right is not always right… I try to think that I do my best and I am always trying to be the best mom I can be.”

“This episode hurt me a lot because I felt very guilty at different times for not having believed or had the sensitivity to understand what my son was feeling and saying he was feeling. When I received the diagnosis, I immediately felt guilty and remembered everything that had happened. But that’s it, it’s knowing how to recognize, adapt and do better every day.”, vented.

“Today Bless is happy as hell, he says he has superpowers. And has! Because if we think about it… If he hears more than we do, if he smells more, he’s a superhero”, praised her.

Giovanna said that Bless deals a lot with the disorder: “He even likes to tell his friends about these sensations. Everything with my children is very open, sincere and real. We omit absolutely nothing from them. We think it’s important for their growth and strengthening.”

“He knows about the disorder, his condition and knows how to deal with it. He loves to talk about being a superhero. Then they ask why he has superpowers and he says: ‘wow, because I smell more than you, I hear more than you!’. It’s really nice to see his growth.” finished.
