The Hollywood star said she prefers the last name by which she is known around the world.
American actress Julia Roberts found out at the age of 55 that her last name should really be different. The Daily Mail reported this.
It was noted that the star took part in the Finding the Roots project to learn more about his family tree through DNA archive and genealogy work with the help of Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr.
As it turned out, the celebrity’s great-grandmother, Rhoda Suttle Roberts, had an affair with a married man, with whom she gave birth to the actress’s grandfather, John. Her legal husband, Willy, died ten years before the boy’s birth in the 1880s.
Gates explained that, through DNA, they were able to link Julia Roberts and her cousin to a man named Henry MacDonald Mitchell Jr., who was her biological great-grandfather.
“So the Mitchells and I? My brain is really exploding. It’s amazing. On the other hand, part of me, when I calm down, can still hold on to the idea that my family is my family. I prefer the name Roberts,” said of the actress.
Also, project specialists found out that the real great-grandfather of Julia Roberts was married to a woman named Sarah and had six children.
Before this, it was reported that the Hollywood actress had a moving greeting for her twins, Hazel and Finn, on their 18th birthday.
