Rose Rock announced after the ceremony that she told her son she was “proud of his response” as the comedian continued to hand out awards and left without further incident.
Rocky, who is currently embarking on a comedy tour around the country, has remained silent about his reaction to Silas. In an interview earlier this month, he clarified that “he didn’t discuss it until I got my salary.”
Smith, however, was more than expected. “King Richard” voluntarily left the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences after a lengthy apology on Instagram, saying his actions “don’t indicate who I want to be.” He has since been banned from attending the awards ceremony for 10 years.
“Jokes at my expense were part of the job, but joking about Jada’s health was too much for me and I responded emotionally,” she wrote. “I want to apologize publicly, Chris. I didn’t get out of line and I made a mistake ”.
However, the apology was not for Rocky’s mother, who said the actor had not yet interacted personally with his son.
“I’m very sorry he didn’t apologize,” he told the publication. “I mean, his people wrote an article saying I apologize to Chris Rock, but you see, something like this is personal, just ask.”
